When I am not making art, I love to read and collect books. My favorite book is The Eight Life written by Nino Haratischwili but I also love children’s books such as I Am a Bunny by Richard Scarry and Little Fox written by Edward Van de Vendel and beautifully illustrated by Marije Tolman.
Through my art, I aspire to share my love for nature and storytelling, and I try to keep the child in me alive. I hope my paintings bring you a little joy and a little touch of magic!
Hello,
Would you like to know a little more about who’s behind the illustrations? Well, my name is Vicky. I live with my husband, cats and horses in an old farmhouse in a little village in Belgium. We have no neighbors and are surrounded by nature. And I just love that.
As you can see in my art, nature is my biggest inspiration. Since I was a child, I always loved being outside to encounter plants and animals in their natural environment. It often feels as though time stands still and I get lost in the moment by observing their size, shape, sounds, color, and every move. In my work I try to share these observations and my will to be more in tune with nature.
On my desk you’ll find a box filled with tubes of acrylic gouache, jars of colored pencils and a lot of other art materials. I love to work traditionally as it prevents me from being too perfectionistic. Feeling the touch of a brush on paper brings me real joy and testing new art materials makes me happy. I love to take live drawing lessons and I enjoy being amongst other artists.
Get in touch?
I’d love to hear from you!
